Movement Assessment

Oftentimes the site of pain or injury is created from problems elsewhere in the body.  This is especially true with athletes who need all body parts working perfectly for best performance.  A full movement assessment will identify faulty movements which cause us to compensate and overload other areas of the body.

The assessment is an excellent tool to identify the root cause of injuries and help prevent them all together.  As a mobility and assessment specialist, Dr. Jankovich will help determine your problematic areas and provide corrective treatment and rehab exercises specifically for you.

Soft Tissue Therapy

When muscles and other soft tissues (tendons, ligaments, and fascia) in the body are tight or restricted, it prevents our ability to move through full ranges of motion and inhibits our ability to fully generate power in the muscles.

If it is determined that specific restrictions or tightness are contributing to your particular issue, soft tissue therapy may be required.  Dr. Jankovich utilizes a combination of Myofascial Release Techniques, hand held myofascial mobilization tools (IASTM), and other manual therapies.

The goal of the treatments are to release any fibrosis or increased tension in the muscles and soft tissues to decrease pain and increase function.

Joint Manipulation

All of the joints in our body need to move through their designed range of motion for them to function properly.  When specific joints lack movement our bodies compensate and put more stress on neighbouring joints and muscles creating pain and tightness.

Joint manipulation can be a safe and effective way to restore normal movement in the spine and extremities.  Manipulation consists of a specific force directed to the joint which guides it through it's full range of motion.  This will sometimes be accompanied by a popping noise caused by bubbles of gas normally found within the joint.

The positive effects of joint manipulation are decreased pain and increased range of motion and function of the joint.

Medical Acupuncture

Medical acupuncture is a modern twist on an ancient technique where fine, sterile acupuncture needles are inserted in specific sites in the body.  Electrical or manual stimulation to the needles may be added to enhance its effects.  The purpose of medical acupuncture is to normalize abnormal activity of the nervous system to restore function.

Modern healthcare professionals have adopted this treatment tool because of its effectiveness in relieving pain, improving circulation, and improving mobility.

The treatments are typically pain free and only single use acupuncture needles are used.

Exercise Rehabilitation

With every good treatment plan, corrective exercises are critical to optimize recovery.  Proper rehabilitation exercise helps you recover faster and aides in developing resilience to future injuries.  Rehabilitation can improve mobility, stability, power and endurance with the goal of maximizing the body's overall function.

Without appropriate guidance, too many people get injured with exercises not matched to their abilities or because certain limitations are not taken into consideration.  With over a decade of clinical experience returning athletes to sport quickly, Dr. Jankovich will compile a specific rehabilitation program focused on your needs and your body's capabilities.
